Your Therapist

David completed his 3000-hour massage therapy course at Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in Vernon, BC in 2007. After finishing with his board exams he moved the family to the lower mainland to begin practicing.

David has a desire to work with his clients to restore and maintain health and function in the active body by developing goal-oriented massage treatments as a part of a total health model. David continues to further his knowledge through yearly continuing education in different modalities including fascial integration in anatomy trains, end range loading, and myofascial techniques. David also uses intuition and client feedback to continuously modify his treatment to what works the best for his clients.

David is a husband, father of six children, and an active volunteer. He spends many weekends and evenings out in the community working with youth through the Scouts Canada program. He enjoys getting out hiking, camping, and canoeing when time and weather cooperate.

The Clinic

Initially considered as a future option with the purchase of the property, David J Hurd Registered Massage Therapy finally came into being after the COVID-19 shutdown. This forced me to reassess my priorities in providing safe treatment for my clients, as well as myself and my family with working in a multi-therapist location. The smaller venue out of my home allows me to limit the number of people coming through the office, minimizing the risk of contamination. The office was originally the garage to this 1950's house which I renovated to include a treatment room, sink, and small waiting area with a dedicated entrance pathway and door. The available space did not lend itself to add an independant washroom, but there is access to a shared washroom down a flight of stairs.
